Fifty years after the creation of its brand, The North Face's motto still remains, "Never stop exploring." The clothing brand takes its name from the coldest and toughest side of a mountain. The company beloved by mountaineers and explorers has pushed itself to unthinkable heights with its gear all the way to the Himalayas. From that small store, which was called just The North Face and was a retailer of high-performance climbing and backpacking equipment, would be born in 1968, The North Face brand. In the meantime, the business had moved to the other side of San Francisco Bay, to the Berkley area, where the production of technical mountain equipment and clothing was also born.
Throughout the 1960s, The North Face brand adored by sportsmen across the planet, especially outdoor athletes, began sponsoring expeditions to the most remote and pristine corners of the planet. The 1980s are marked by the conquest of new levels in the world of skiing, adding this type of clothing specifically for extreme skiing to the collection. Shortly thereafter The North Face becomes the only supplier in the United States able to offer a complete collection of outdoor and ski apparel, sleeping bags, backpacks, and tents, all high performance. The 1990s saw the market launch of Tekware, an innovative collection designed to provide perfect fit and function for mountaineers, hikers, trail runners, and outdoor enthusiasts. This was followed by a line of hiking and trail-running shoes. Today, more than 50 years after opening its modest store, The North Face offers a full line of performance apparel, equipment and footwear.
